Is it Anxiety ADHD PTSD or What?

A topic I love to talk about.

Lots of diagnoses have overlapping symptoms.

Imagine a military veteran sitting down for their morning meal in a diner. It is a classic setting. They sit all the way on one side of the diner with their back to the wall, facing the door. After their meal, you ask them to point out their server or talk about the meal they just ate. Maybe someone was sitting with them, and you ask what they talked about. The person cannot remember.

Is that lack of attention due to anxiety, ADHD, or PTSD? Could they be helped with an anti-anxiety medication, a medication for ADHD, or is it PTSD and might not be helped by either of those two types of medication? Difficulty concentrating is part of several diagnoses, so which one are you really struggling with?
