If It Is Not Working, It Will Not Magically Start

One of the mottos I live by is: if it is not working, it will not magically start. Many people enter therapy thinking the therapist has all the answers. Many therapists do not have all the answers, but we do have lots of options that you might not have tried yet.

  • Unable to sleep? Lying in bed unable to sleep has not been working, so try something else. Try sleep hygiene.

    Having issues with your partner? Deciding to stop talking to each other until it gets better is not working. Try communication skills.

    Struggling with ADHD time blindness? Not tracking time, using calendars, or keeping a timer has not been working. Try some structure.

Therapists study sleep hygiene, communication skills, structure, and more. We teach clients things that they might not have learned in school.
