Building a support system and stretching your budget doesn't have to mean navigating it all alone. Here are a few resources worth knowing about.
Free Printing at Your Local Library
Many libraries offer free printing up to a certain dollar amount each month — a small but genuinely useful perk if you're job hunting, filling out paperwork, or need documents printed and don't have a printer at home.
Library Job Resources
Beyond printing, libraries often have job postings, resume help, and job-hunting resources available at no cost. It's an underused resource that a lot of people don't realize exists.
Local "Free Stuff" Facebook Groups
Search Facebook for buy-nothing or free groups in your area. People regularly give away furniture, household items, and more — a great way to save money or pass along things you no longer need.
Local Organization Groups
Community and civic organizations can be a great way to build connection, find support, or get involved. Depending on your interests or identity, this might include groups like PFLAG, Catholic Daughters, Knights of Columbus, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the Rotary Club, or your local YMCA. Many of these groups welcome new members year-round and can be a great first step toward building community.
